ReadOn, WriteOn, VashOn Event Overview 7:00-9:00 pm: A Night that’s Just Write - Lights! Cameras! Action! A “literary” variety show, in the Garrison Keillor tradition, designed to inspire, amuse, and provoke. Nationally-known inspirational speaker Terry Hershey hosts the show and explores The Redemptive Power of Words. Island novelist Will North does Open to the Magic: The Writer’s Life, an antic talk about writing for a living. Author Magazine editor Bill Kenower presents You are the Author of Your Own Life. In between, expect video interludes, actors in costume reading the works of authors from the past, and music from local performers. Location: Ober Park Performance Hall Also, all day, every day: Betty MacDonald Exhibit at the Library - Throughout the ReadOn, WriteOn, VashOn, Book Fair, Vashon’s King County Library Branch will feature an exhibit celebrating Betty MacDonald, the beloved island author of The Egg and I, Onions in the Stew, and the Mrs. Piggle Wiggle series. 10:00-11:00: And in the Beginning ... There Were Comics. Cartooning veteran T.K. Christopher (Spiderman, X Men, Superman, Batman, and more) shares his 40-year experience in the cartooning and comic book industry. Christopher has also written the definitive biography of Beat Generation writer Neal Cassady, and documented early comic book history. Samples of his work and his vast comic book collection will be displayed. Registration is required; call 463-2069 to register.
